This is caused by a type of spyware know as scareware and can be very honest and legitimate looking but is a scam and they are currently making over $150,000 a week by exploiting people. Unfortunately most are quite difficult to remove but we can give it a try (example below). If you haven’t asked for it to be installed then DO NOT pay for it to fix the problem, the problems DO NOT exist. They scare you into paying to remove the fake problems and the software then turns itself off and everything carries on working but they have your card details so if you have bought it, ring your card company and explain what's happened. First thing we need is write down what the fake software is and then to try running a antispyware program, if you have one installed then update it and do a full scan, if you run it and it asks you what program you want to use to open the file then give us a call, its quicker than explaining it here. If it does run then your on your way to fixing it, you can download MalwareBytes to use for free to help remove it but when you go to the download page be aware some scareware software will redirect to a different web site so make sure you download the right thing. Once you have ran a antispyware program then you need to run another, update it and do a full scan. While that is going on we can restore Internet Explorer to default and remove any setting that the fake software has changed, open IE and go to tools, Internet options and under browsing history, click the delete button, tick all the boxes and hit delete. Now we can look up exactly which fake infection you have by doing a google search for what you wrote down earlier. There is normally a removal guide to make sure you have removed it all for each scareware so the instructions on them should be followed carefully.
