The notorious BSOD
BSOD, Blue Screen Of Death - which is a blue screen with white writing then resets or hangs.

The BSOD is an error with a difference, it completely halts your computer, sometimes does a memory dump (it doesn't matter what that means) and then restarts your computer for you. Of course that's not what you wanted and the first thing to cover here is that you need another way to get on the web to look up the error or you can give us a call with the error code and we can let you know what's causing it. The main thing you need to write down is the file name (near the top right) and the error code near the bottom, something like 0x000007b and after the STOP:. Using that information we can get a rough idea of what is doing it. Sometimes the BSOD will flash up and immediately restart in which case you need to keep tapping the F8 key when the PC is just starting to run up and choose “disable automatic restart on system failure” with the cursor keys and then you will have time to write it down. That's about all I can tell you about this as each error is individual, it is important to not to keep restarting the computer over and over hoping it will cure itself as some errors indicate a possible hard drive fault and could result in the lose of data if you’re not careful. Once you have either spoken to us or looked the error up yourself you can follow what instruction you’ve obtained or give us a call and were happy to talk you through what we can.
